Psychological problems in parents of children with orthopedic pediatric congenital disorders

Menjadi orangtua dengan anak yang terlahir dengan kelainan kongenital dapat sangat meresahkan dan membuat stres yang berkepanjangan. Kondisi depresi bisa dialami oleh orangtua terutama ibu.
Semakin cepat orangtua terutama ibu mengetahui adanya kelainan kongenital pada anaknya maka semakin baik pula ibu akan mempersiapkan mekanisme koping/adaptasi (coping mechanism) terhadap kecacatan itu. Orang tua dari anak dengan kelainan kongenital memilih untuk ikut berperan secara kolaboratif dengan tim medis
Diperlukan kesabaran, kekuatan dan ketabahan serta rasa perhatian yang tinggi. Dalam perjalanan keseharian pada saatnya keluarga akan menemukan cara baru untuk dapat berinteraksi sebagai keluarga seutuhnya. Peran komunitas ini menjadi penting sebagai dukungan sosial maka datang serta berinteraksi/bermain dengan anak sangat berpengaruh terhadap emosional.
Tenaga medis semestinya mampu memberikan pelayanan komprehensif untuk orangtua dari anak dengan kelainan kongenital, mereka harus perhatian terhadap kebutuhan yang kompleks dari keluarga tersebut yang dimulai dari hari ketika orang tua menerima diagnosis atau kecurigaan terhadap adanya kelainan kongenital.
